What ChangeTower Does Well

ChangeTower runs three types of monitoring at once: visual, text, and raw HTML. Each serves a different purpose. If you're tracking terms of service or privacy policy changes, catching the exact word that changed matters more than a screenshot showing "something moved." Their text diff highlights the precise insertion or deletion. We don't do that.

Keyword monitoring is another thing they handle that we simply don't offer. Set a word, get alerted when it appears or disappears on any page you're watching. Useful stuff. Handy for brand monitoring, regulatory language, competitor pricing pages.

Their domain scanner automatically discovers new URLs on a site. Neat trick. If you're watching a competitor who keeps spinning up landing pages, you'll want that. Their SPA simulation handles JavaScript-heavy single-page apps with recorded user actions, which goes deeper than basic rendering. Honestly, we were a little jealous when we first saw that feature.

The Chrome extension with AI-powered natural language setup is a nice touch. G2 reviewers regularly mention the dashboard being intuitive, and real-time notifications working well for client presentations. The iOS app with push notifications gives them a mobile angle we haven't built yet.

Where users complain: setting up monitoring for multiple sites gets tedious. Managing several clients feels clunky. The interface could use a refresh. Those aren't our words. Those come straight from G2 reviews.

What Snapshot Archive Does Well

Screenshots. That's the core. Every capture is a pixel-for-pixel capture from top to bottom, not a viewport crop. Each one gets a UTC timestamp watermark burned into the image, and you can export it as a SHA-256 hashed PDF certificate. For website evidence capture, that chain of proof is what law firms actually need. Courts are increasingly skeptical of plain screenshots — what courts accept as evidence comes down to provable authenticity.

Our visual diff is pixel-level with a tunable sensitivity threshold. That matters because minor rendering differences between captures create false positives that drown out real changes. You can dial sensitivity up or down depending on how noisy the page is.

We have a full CRUD REST API on Pro plans and above. ChangeTower doesn't offer a public API at all. If you're building monitoring into your own tooling or dashboards, that's a dealbreaker in one direction. We've had a few users pick us over ChangeTower specifically because of the API.

Alert channels cover email, Slack, Discord, and Telegram. ChangeTower limits Slack to basic integration and locks webhooks behind their Enterprise tier.

What we don't do, honestly:
